Who We Are

At Glenway Church of God of Prophecy, we are a spiritual family committed to following the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Our heart is to glorify God by loving Him fully and extending that same love to every person we meet. We live out our faith through compassion, truth, and genuine community.

We are more than a church—we are a home.

Glenway is proudly a multicultural and multigenerational congregation where everyone is welcome. We open our arms to all people regardless of race, background, nationality, age, gender, culture, faith tradition, or life experience.

No matter where you come from or what your story is, there is a place for you here.

We believe the body of Christ is beautifully diverse, and we celebrate that diversity every time we gather together.

Our Open Door

We embrace an open-door policy—no one is turned away. Whether you’re seeking answers, looking for healing, or simply wanting to be part of something real and rooted in God’s love, you will be welcomed without judgment and with open hearts.

You don’t have to have it all together to be part of this family. Come as you are, and let God meet you right where you are.

Growing Together

Here at Glenway, we are not just building a church—we are building a community of faith, unity, and hope. Through vibrant worship, practical Bible teaching, fellowship, and outreach, we grow together in Christ and work to make a positive impact in our neighborhood and beyond.

We laugh together, pray together, and grow together. This is more than a Sunday service—it’s a family where you can belong, be encouraged, and find purpose.

Our Journey of Faith

The Lord has faithfully guided Glenway Church through many seasons. The church first moved to 389 Talbot Avenue in Dorchester, Massachusetts. As the Lord gave increase, the church relocated to 493 Washington Street.

In 1993, Bishop James Peters relocated to Florida, and Pastor Glenn Prospere was appointed Pastor of the Dorchester Church. In 1997, the church moved to 500 Talbot Avenue, where Pastor James Hanna was appointed Pastor.

In August 1999, Pastor Colin C. Powell, Sr. was appointed to lead the Dorchester church. During his leadership, the church relocated to 1000 Harvard Street, and once again, the Lord gave increase.

Through much prayer and fasting, Pastor Powell and the saints sought the Lord for a permanent place to worship. While waiting on God’s blessing, the church worshiped for a short season at the Warren Street Church. In February 2001, the Lord blessed us with our present location at 179 Glenway Street.

“Look what the Lord has done!” Through prayer, perseverance, and faithfulness, we have completed our building mission. Praise be to God!

God

We believe there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — each equally deserving our worship and obedience. God is Creator, Sustainer, and Ruler of all things.

Jesus Christ

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, became fully human while remaining fully divine. Born of the virgin Mary, He lived a sinless life, died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, and now reigns at the right hand of the Father. Through His life, death, and resurrection, salvation is made available to all who trust in Him.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, regenerates those who trust in Christ, indwells believers, and empowers them to live godly lives in service to God and others.

Our Mission & Vision

Our mission is to glorify God by living out the teachings of Jesus Christ with humility, compassion, and purpose. We gather not just for worship, but for connection, encouragement, and spiritual growth.

Whether through heartfelt praise, Bible-based teaching, community outreach, or meaningful relationships, Glenway is a place where you can encounter the presence of God and discover His purpose for your life.
