Walking in the Light of His Word

Posted: January 12, 2025 | Scripture: John 8:12 KJV

Beloved Glenway Church family, grace and peace be unto you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As we enter this new season together, the Lord has laid upon my heart a word about walking in His light. In a world filled with uncertainty, confusion, and darkness, the Word of God remains our surest and most steady lamp. The psalmist declared it clearly — and we must hold fast to that declaration in every circumstance of life.

John 8:12 reminds us that Jesus said, "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." This is not a metaphor for comfort alone — it is a directive for how we are to live. To walk in His light means to align our decisions, our relationships, our speech, and our hearts with the truth of Scripture. It means choosing the narrow path when the wide road beckons. It means trusting the Lord even when the path ahead is unclear to our natural eyes.

I want to encourage every member of this family — those seated in our pews on Glenway Street, those joining us via live stream, those watching from near and far — that you are not forgotten, and you are not alone. The light of Christ shines in you and through you. Do not allow the pressures of this season to dim what God has placed within you. You were made for such a time as this, and the Lord who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it.

As a congregation, let us commit to reading the Word daily, gathering together in worship and prayer, and extending the love of Christ to everyone we meet. Our Wednesday Zoom Bible Study and Thursday Prayer Meeting are open to all — I urge you to make use of these opportunities. We are stronger together, and the enemy has no foothold where the people of God are united in prayer and in truth.

Let us press forward with faith, with love, and with a confident expectation that God is moving on our behalf. His word will not return to Him void. What He has promised, He will perform. What He has started, He will finish. And what He has spoken over Glenway Church, He will bring to pass — in His time, by His Spirit, and for His glory. Come expecting, come believing, and come ready to receive all that the Lord has prepared for you.

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." — Psalm 119:105 KJV

In His Service, Bishop Colin C. Powell Sr., Senior Pastor, Glenway Church of God of Prophecy
